SCORING SUMMARY

FIRST QUARTER

GREEN BAY: Antonio Freeman, 67-yard pass from Brett Favre (Ryan Longwell kick), 2:17 left. How they scored: John Thierry beat Derrick Deese around the corner and, in conjunction with Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, sacked Jeff Garcia for minus-15. That forced the 49ers out of field-goal range and led to a touchback by punter Chad Stanley. On the first play, Bill Schroeder was unable to make a tough catch on a 46-yard bomb from Favre behind safety Pierson Prioleau. Freeman ran a curl route with safeties Lance Schulters and Prioleau in coverage for an 18-yard gain. After a 5-yard penalty on defensive end Anthony Pleasant for offsides, Favre hit Freeman for the touchdown. Out of an I formation, Favre play-faked to Dorsey Levens, found no one open and stepped up into the pocket. Just as he approached the line, he threw to Freeman, who was wide open at the Green Bay 49. Freeman ran down the sidelines and barely managed to stay in-bounds as he slipped inside the pylon.
The drive: Three plays, 90 yards, 1 minute, 27 seconds time of possession. Packers 7, 49ers 0.

SECOND QUARTER

SAN FRANCISCO: Charlie Garner, 39-yard pass from Garcia (Wade Richey kick), 5:27 left. How they scored: Bryant Young recorded his first sack of the season, working from Frank Winters and then off of Ross Verba for minus-11 on third and 10. Josh Bidwell punted 34 yards to the 49ers 48. On third and 5, Garner outran LeRoy Butler off left tackle for an 8-yard gain. On first down, Tyrone Williams stayed home to ruin a long flea-flicker pass to Jerry Rice. Garner split wide left on second down, and middle linebacker Bernardo Harris moved out to cover him. Harris didn't get a jam on Garner, who released down the sidelines and made a spectacular diving catch at the 3 as Harris desperately tried to catch up. Garner rolled into the end zone. "I probably should have played a little deeper," Harris said. "I anticipated him doing something else."
The drive: Five plays, 52 yards, 1:21. Packers 7, 49ers 7.

GREEN BAY: Ahman Green, 2-yard run (Longwell kick), 51 seconds left. How they scored: Favre hit Bubba Franks for 9. Ken Norton was penalized 5 yards for illegal contact against Tyrone Davis. Levens gained 11 up the middle against a dime defense. Levens gained 11 when Favre dumped to him on the right sideline. Franks eluded linebacker Jeff Posey to turn a 5-yard catch into 11 yards. Green followed a booming trap block by Marco Rivera for 20 yards off the left side to the 4. After Chad Clifton was penalized for a false start, Green gained 7 off right tackle when Mark Tauscher caved in that side of the line. Pleasant slanted inside and tackled Green for no gain on second down, but on third down Green followed Mike Wahle for the touchdown. Mike Wahle, in as the third tight end, blocked end Chike Okeafor to give Green a running lane at left tackle.
The drive: Ten plays, 74 yards, 4:31. Packers 14, 49ers 7.

THIRD QUARTER

GREEN BAY: Levens, 1-yard run (Longwell kick), 8:51 left. How they scored: Levens bounced outside for 7 on second and 1. After a 9-yard sack by Brentson Buckner, Levens gained 13 on a third-and-10 draw as Verba sustained his block on Ken Norton. On second and 8 Monty Montgomery played about 10 yards off and Bill Schroeder beat him on a 14-yard inside route to the 49ers 35. On second and 5, Green caught a short pass in the middle of the field and raced 29 yards to the 1. Levens vaulted right guard on second down for the score.
The drive: Eleven plays, 80 yards, 6:09. Packers 21, 49ers 7.

SAN FRANCISCO: J.J. Stokes, 23-yard pass from Garcia (Richey kick), 2:10 left. How they scored: On third and 9 Stokes ran a curl route from the left slot for 12 against Tod McBride. On third and 4 Brian Williams missed a tackle and Jerry Rice turned a short pass into a 6-yard gain. After Harris tackled Garner for no gain at left guard, Garcia went back at McBride for a 17-yard completion to Streets at the Green Bay 35. On third and 6, fullback Fred Beasley came free for an 8-yard completion. On the next play, McBride was looking into the backfield when Garcia pump-faked to Stokes, who then ran by him to the right corner. Garcia's pass was placed perfectly on his Stokes' fingertips and McBride couldn't catch up.
The drive: Twelve plays, 77 yards, 6:41. Packers 21, 49ers 14.

FOURTH QUARTER

SAN FRANCISCO: Terrell Owens, 16-yard pass from Garcia (Richey kick), 11:36 left. How they scored: Garner pounded into right guard, then bounced outside to the right for 23 yards. Rice beat Tyrone Williams on a slant for 16 to the Green Bay 32. After Garcia made a smart move and threw away a screen pass and Tyrone Williams did a good job covering Streets on a sideline go route, Butler missed Garner in the hole on a quick opener and he bounced down the middle for 16 yards to the 16. On the next play, Owens came inside on a shallow crossing route, shook off Harris and Darren Sharper and steamed into the end zone.
The drive: Eight plays, 71 yards, 2:21. Packers 21, 49ers 21.

GREEN BAY: Green, 1-yard run (Longwell kick), 8:01 left. How they scored: On second and 10, Favre shook off Jason Webster on a cornerback blitz, scrambled left and threw back across his BODY to Levens for 37 yards. Webster was penalized 33 yards for pass interference on a third-and-6 bomb to Driver in the end-zone corner. "He pushed me out of bounds," Driver said. "He didn't even look up for the ball." Green got the touchdown on third down, using second, third and fourth effort to break the plane of the goal line with Posey trying to hold on.
The drive: Seven plays, 75 yards, 3:35. Packers 28, 49ers 21.

SAN FRANCISCO: Owens, 37-yard pass from Garcia (Richey kick), 5:30 left. How they scored: Longwell's kickoff went out of bounds, giving the 49ers the ball at their 40. "It was the only kickoff I've mis-hit in a while," Longwell said. On third and 5 Mike McKenzie was penalized for holding on an incomplete pass to Streets. On second and 7 Rice gained 10 on a slant against McBride. On the next play Owen came from the slot right on a shallow crossing pattern, beat man-to-man coverage and eluded tacklers for the score. "It's a defense play," Harris said. "Owens is a great receiver."
The drive: Five plays, 60 yards, 2:31. Packers 28, 48ers 28.

GREEN BAY: Longwell, 35-yard field goal, 54 seconds left. How they scored: Allen Rossum had a 32-yard kickoff return. After Schroeder was called for offensive pass interference against Webster, Favre hit Franks for 14 and then scrambled for 11 after eluding a sack by linebacker Edward Thomas. "It's just a great play by Brett," quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said. Freeman caught an 11-yard crossing pattern. Favre took a wicked hit by tackle Nate Hobgood-Chittick but got off a 7-yard pass to Freeman for a first down at the 25. After three runs gained eight yards Longwell made the kick.
The drive: Nine plays, 44 yards, 4:36. Packers 31, 49ers 28.
