Great-Grandma Rafferty was born Sigrid Johnson. Because Lorents's (Sarah's father) father's name was John there was confusion upon immigration as to whether to go by Johnson or Bjugan. Some of the kids used Johnson & some used either Johnson or Bjugan. (Makes for very difficult record keeping) ;-)

Her first marriage was to John Nelson, by whom she had 3 children, Ida, Nils & Josephine. After Mr Nelson died, she married John Rafferty.

John's death certificate lists his mother's name as Celia, but according to census images & a marriage record, her name was Julia.
